Summer Fashion Week 2010

February 27th, 2010

What are the temperatures?

Hello. I’m doing a 5 week study abroad prgran in France summer of 2010 for fashion and I was wondering what the temperatures are like there and how should I dress accordingly? Is the air there dry or humid?

Elizabeth, France is not a very big country but the climate is extremely different from the coast of Normandy to the shores of the Mediterranean. Unless you tell us where in France you will be staying, it is very difficult to tell how to dress.

The north of France has a climate quite similar to the south of England. It can be wet if a low pressure passes over the British islands. The south is usually dry in the summer although the shores of the Bay of Biscay can see some rainy days. Normandy is famous for its apples. Provence is famous for its olives. It tells you the difference in climate! The French say that the climate is divide by a line going along the Loire valley going from Nantes to the south of Paris. Even the architecture is different on both sides of the valley.

The temperatures will vary from perhaps 20 C to 35 C. The air is humid near the sea and dry inland, at the foot of the Alps.
